According to Egypt “Daily News” reported on December 6, Egypt Trade Ministry recently announced that from June 2017 (announced the temporary collection) to June 2022 imposed imported steel anti-dumping duties which produced by China, Turkey and Ukraine for a period of five years.
Egypt will brief the World Trade Organization about the situation. The rate of anti-dumping duties imposed on Chinese imports of steel products increased from 17% to 29%; the anti-dumping duties imposed on Turkish imported steel products were adjusted from 10% and 19% to 7% and 22.8% respectively; and also the anti-dumping duties imposed on Ukraine imported steel products were adjusted from 15% and 22% to 17.2% and 27% respectively.
However, Egyptian importers expressed dissatisfaction with the decision of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, saying that steel production in Egypt does not meet the market demand and that iron and steel enterprises will take the opportunity to manipulate the market price of their products. Therefore, steel price in Egypt is expected to continue to rise.
