According to data from Korea Iron and Steel Association, in September, Korean steel exports continued to grow, up 5.7% year-on-year to 2770913 tonnes, but compare with August fell down 0.2%. Steel imports fell 29.4% year-on-year to 1,507,463 tonnes, down 6.9% from August.
In terms of products, the export of Korean pipe products continued to improve in September to 272,304 tons, an increase of 6.3% improve the overall export of steel. From January to September, the total exports of pipe products reached 2.45 million tonnes, up 71.2% over the same period of last year. The export of long products also increased slightly by 1.4% year-on-year to 243,132 tonnes.
In September, South Korea’s hot rolled coil exports dropped by 23.7% year-on-year to 547,464 tonnes. From January to September, the total export of South Korean flat products was 5.226 million tonnes, down 19.1% from the same period of last year. Sheet exports showed a gradual recovery trend. In September, Korean sheet exports increased by 44.3%, exceeding 3 million tonnes.
