South American coil market import price range narrowed

As of October 20, this week South America imported hot rolled coil CFR reference price of USD 580-585 per ton, compared with last week’s USD 580-595 per ton slightly lower. Imports of cold rolled coil CFR reference price from USD 625-650 per ton narrowed to USD 630-635 per ton.

During the same period, South America imported hot galvanized coil CFR reference price of USD 690-695 per ton, last week USD 685-690 per ton slightly pulled up.

This week, China-made hot rolled coil exports to Brazil’s CFR offer for USD 580 per ton, exports to Chile and Colombia CFR offer for USD 580-590 per ton. China exports of Brazil’s cold rolled coil CFR offer for USD 630-640 per ton, exports to Chile and Colombia CFR offer for USD 630-645 per ton.

“In the past few weeks after the Chinese market prices fell, the Brazilian market recently increased demand for imports of cold rolled coil.” Brazilian local news said.

But the South American flat material market, turnover of the number of imported orders is still small recently.

“Sometimes when we are negotiating with the customer, the customer says they have traded at a different price than the market price,” another market participant said. “This situation mainly due to some exporters in a lower price eager to digest the inventory.”
